I have tried 2 other kitty condos and they were too small for my large cat. He fits comfortably in this one with his whole body supported by the bed and he loves the scratch posts.Bought the same style New Cat Condos elevated cat bed four years ago. My cats thoroughly used it and several weeks ago I saw that one of the super sturdy carpeted legs was nearly down to the wood post. Relieved and delighted that NCC was still making this model and that the price had not gone up a la cat food. Happily ordered what looked like, from the photos and measurements, to be the same well-made five star cat bed as four years ago. WRONG! The legs are about 1/3 thinner, look spindly...doubtful they will hold up for long to the intense scratching the old one got. The carpeting is definitely thinner, less comfy carpeting and more just covering...will need padding to be as comfortable as the first one. So, as with chocolate bars, while this version of NCC's cat bed looks to be the same as the good old one, it ain't! It shrank!!I had bought this same cat bed about 4 years ago. It's the perfect height for under my living room window so the cats can look out and watch the birds. They used it more than any other cat furniture in the house and over time really shredded the sisal rope and some areas of the carpet. I decided to replace it because it was looking pretty shabby but the new one is not made the same. The underlying wooden structure is thinner and I think the overall materials are cheaper. It's also lighter weight overall, which might be a benefit to some, but one of my cats is very large and when he jumps on the new cat bed, it starts to tilt over--I think it might fall if it wasn't next to a wall.This is working so well for my cats. They love the sisal scratching piece - especially that it's at an angle - and take turns sleeping/playing in the bed on top. This is made well and came fully assembled - love that! The best part by far is that is US-MADE!It came like 30 min ago. No assembly required, which is good. Opened it on porch and carried it in. Something sharp on it, like a staple or nail, poked into my finger right away. Can not figure out what it is. It is not made well. Sturdy? yes. Carpet is cheap, thin. Can see the plastic under it. I suspect will not last more than 2 months. Cats are already on it. They like it so far.There was a time you could buy a decent, carpeted condo/scratcher at a decent price. I do not mind paying for a good scratcher for the cats, I would just like something that will last a bit. I had a simple carpet scratcher and barrel condo for 7/8 years. As I said, this one will not last more than couple months. Disappointed.Ordered blue cat condo , as you can see this green. Petco had me send photo to prove I got green ??? Now want me to send back for refund instead of sending me item I ordered. This was suppose be gift for my daughter getting her first kitten.Not sure I’ll order from Petco again.Tree itself is sturdy and well made.Probably fit cat up to 10-12 pounds.My cats like the carpet so much better than the other but they have torn off all the carpeting already. I guess I better learn how to re-apply the carpet myself. HaFirst, I ordered the grey and they sent me the dark brown.. now I ordered the beige and it is a really dark beige not light like they show in the picture!Only good thing is it’s sturdy so my timid cat loves to sleep here.. just wish it was a good color & were accurate to the description
